Preschoolers

Grunnþjálfunarfimi for 3-5 years old preschoolers

As children grow into early childhood, their world will begin to open up. They will become more independent and begin to focus more on adults and children outside of the immediate family. They will want to explore and ask about the things around them even more.

Preschoolers are emerging from toddlerhood to a new world of exploration and formal learning in kindergarten.
They are improving their gross motor and fine motor skills which gets them interested in art, crafts, and all kinds of ride-on toys (wagons, scooters, bikes, etc) and early sports skills and often participating in organized sports by the end of this developmental period.

Children need organized and healthy exercise, where certain body parts and skills are specially trained such as the back, soles, balance, and coordination of movements. Establishing a sporty lifestyle early in life will encourage children to keep a healty routine throughout their life.

The importance of early intervention

During Gþfimi classes at Hreyfiland, we focus on the soles of the feet, back, and spine, improving the sense of balance and coordination of movements.

The course is based on the BDE (Basic Development Education, more specifically Basic Training) teaching method which was created based on 15 years of dr. Delacato´s study of physical activity and development in children.

Through his research, Delacato demonstrated the importance of stimulating the child’s senses in the most diverse way possible. He showed that with regular exercise, problems that may arise can be noticed sooner. It is also possible to grasp the reins sooner and apply early intervention when needed to give every child the best chance of being the best they can be.

His research showed that it is necessary to start developing the nervous system of the brain so that the child can cope with learning. It was also stated that exercise therapy can have a good effect on reading and writing.

The classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 pm. Each class lasts 45 minutes.
